This is one of the rare times where my opinion of a Mangoop burger has not improved since I first tried it at Pivo & Burger Fest. But I do have a firmer grasp on why that is.
The way they prepare the mushrooms in that burger is a double-edged sword. But not in the traditional meaning of the word - with one positive and one negative side. There is negativity on both sides.
On one side: I'm not sure if this is a controversial opinion or not but I actually generally like the texture of mushrooms. Hence, I like it when they're cut in big chunks so I have something to chew on. The mushrooms in this burger, however, seem to have been thrown into a blender, resulting in tiny chunks that are closer to a paste or sauce than mushroom chunks.
Which brings us to the second side: I don't consider button mushrooms to have a particularly strong taste. But if you make them into what is basically a sauce, it turns out they do possess enough flavor to make everything taste like mushroom in an unsatisfying way. Especially if the patty is grilled to well done. Like the one I received was. Against my instructions.
Unfortunately, I therefore can't really recommend this burger. As I stated in my previous review, wait for Hood's Balbo to come around eventually and get that one instead. Or, if you simply must have a mushroom burger as soon as possible, get Kavarna Tiskarna's Johnny.
In the pictures at Pivo & Burger Fest it looked like this burger was going to be covered in a lusciously thick sauce made of finely chopped mushrooms. Instead I got some roughly chopped mushrooms on a patty with relatively thin sauce. Passable at best.
If you're looking for much better urgers with mushrooms, look to Hood Burger's Balbo or Kavarna Tiskarna's Alora.
